Sunrise bridge traffic shifts onto one side
Both directions now share the north span, Lennox has opened a headquarters and HVAC training center, and Sunday jazz returns.
Drivers will use a new Sunrise Boulevard bridge pattern for months. Fort Lauderdale has also gained a headquarters and commercial HVAC training center, while Flagler Village prepares another wine bar.
The Florida Department of Transportation has closed Sunrise Boulevard’s south bridge span over the Intracoastal. The span had carried eastbound traffic before the change. All traffic has shifted to the north side, with two lanes open in each direction. The configuration is expected to last into early 2027.
Left turns from westbound Sunrise Boulevard onto southbound NE 26th Avenue are prohibited during the shift. The bridge connects the mainland with the barrier island, beach and surrounding neighborhoods, including access toward The Galleria. Lane shifts and turning restrictions could create delays during busy morning, evening and weekend periods. Drivers should follow posted signs and allow extra travel time. The closure is part of the ongoing state roadway and bridge rehabilitation project.
Lennox opens a headquarters and HVAC training center
Lennox has opened the Fort Lauderdale headquarters and training center for its National Account Services division. A dedicated 6,000-square-foot training space gives technicians, managers and field leaders classroom instruction and hands-on experience with commercial HVAC equipment and systems.
Programs support Skilled Technician, Advanced Technician, Lead Master and Manager-in-Training career paths. Lennox NAS also operates Build-A-Tech, a paid six- to eight-month apprenticeship combining classroom instruction, field experience and mentorship. The National Account Services operation has trained nearly 1,600 technicians since 2016.
Magie Wine Bar is coming to Flagler Village
Magie Wine Bar plans to open its third location in Flagler Village this October at 551 N. Federal Highway. The 1,400-square-foot space from co-owners Caroline Strauss and chef Ivan Barros will be the brand’s first spot outside Miami-Dade County. Its wine selection centers on Spanish and Portuguese bottles.
The menu leans playful: escargot, truffle grilled cheese, Caesar fries, and caviar with dino nuggets. Happy hour is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. A two-hour bottomless wine option is listed at $35. Regular hours are planned Tuesday through Sunday until midnight, with Fridays and Saturdays running until 2 a.m. The owners also want singles nights, craft nights and local collaborations.
T3 FAT Village lands its first office tenants
Two companies have signed on as the first office tenants at T3 FAT Village. GXO Logistics plans a 35,000-square-foot regional office there. CBI Workplace Solutions will move its Fort Lauderdale office from Las Olas.
The six-story, 180,000-square-foot building is part of the $512 million FAT Village development. It is planned as Florida’s first mass-timber office building. Exposed timber columns and wood ceilings will sit beside steel elements and large windows. The 5.6-acre project also includes 600 apartments, retail, restaurants, and art. The first office tenants are scheduled to move in next year. The overall project is expected in 2027.

Bring a laptop, project idea, notes and images for hands-on pitch-deck guidance from filmmakers Al’Ikens Plancher and Edson Jean. The workshop is followed by four screened shorts and one audio presentation from Plancher exploring identity, migration, family and memory.
The program includes the Prestige audio presentation in English and Haitian Creole, plus Tifi, La Vie, Konpa and Boat People in Haitian Creole with English subtitles. Third Horizon and White Elephant Group present the event, with Broward County Film Society hosting and Cinemóvil supporting. A conversation and Q&A follow the screening. The city’s free outdoor concert series brings local jazz artists to three stages along the Riverwalk on the first Sunday of each month. The September 6 program runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Esplanade Park.
